A new all-plastic recycling program started on December 2022 at the Kingwood Recycling Center, 3210 West Lake Houston Parkway, located at the Kingwood Metro Transit Center in northeast Kingwood. The goal is to go from 10% to 90% of plastic being recycled
Kingwood is a test market for this new process. It is called chemical recycling and it turns all plastic back into its molecular state and can then be used to make new plastic endlessly.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
Bag ALL of your PLASTICS for recycling, including plastics from #1 – #7 or plastics with no code and BRING THEM TO THE WEEKEND RECYCLING at the Park n Ride lot in Kingwood. Please rinse any food residue before putting them in the bag.
Styrofoam, for example, can now be recycled as well as bubble wrap! Bag it and bring it to the weekend recycling at the Park n Ride!

THINGS TO REMEMBER
- Only PLASTIC recyclables should be bagged
- All other recyclables, like paper, metal and glass needs to be loose, NOT in plastic bags
- This new program applies only to the Kingwood Recycling at the Park & Ride, only on the weekends, when the City of Houston Solid Waste Management provides recycling bins
- You can still use your regular curbside recycling to recycle plastics, that doesn’t change. But, the NEW WEEKEND RECYCLING PROGRAM ACCEPTS ALL TYPES of PLASTICS. CURBSIDE PLASTICS RECYCLING HAS LIMITS. Please do not bag any plastics in your curbside recycling. Those items need to be loose as usual
