Supporting Kingwood and the greater Lake Houston Area

Curbside Recycling

It's hitting the Lake Houston area like a summer thunderstorm.

We all want to get our share of rain when it storms and now more and more residents are asking why their trash service providers are not offering recycling services. It is starting to seem like everyone else has it—-why not me? All the service providers do offer recycling services but each community association (HOA) typically has the last word.

If you don’t have the service yet, you may need to get active and attend HOA meetings and let your community leaders know you want the ser-vice. They make the decision and should be responsive to your desires. Yes, adding curbside to your current service may cost a few extra dollars a month; however, in some villages there has been no increase in cost for this added service. Negotiate! Negotiate! Negotiate!

To learn more about this topic you can go to our web site and read our August opinion article published in the Observer Newspapers.

Our congratulations to the Boards of Sand Creek, Mills Branch, and Oakhurst which have recently negotiated with their trash service companies to include recycling services for all residents. They will save hundreds of tons of commodities from going to the landfill each year!
KKG Recycling Services Launched

Over the years, we've noticed that our local Kingwood community events did not EVER have any recycling bins.

It was frustrating for those of us who didn't want to toss our empty water bottle in the trash can.

But your friends at keep Kingwood Green are attempting to change that situation.

KKG supplied the July Fourth at Town Center with recycling bins for all to use for the first time in that event's wonderful history. We were very proud to see area residents use them so well!  Nearly 80 pounds of recyclables were diverted from the landfill, which was a wonderful start.

So we're back to do it again!

This time KKG recycle bins will be at the Kingwood Area Days festival on Saturday Sept. 6th, from 10am to 8pm.

We are grateful to our wonderful sponsors Alspaugh's Ace Hardware, Mojo's Sports Grille, and Local Print Solution!

If you go to the festival, please look for our recycle bins, and be sure and visit our local sponsors!

Finally, if all else fails, use the phone and call us at 713-206-0558. Leave a message. One of our volunteers will get back to you as fast as possible.

We hope that you will find the information in our newsletters of interest. Yes, we are on a mission to save the tons of materials that are buried at the Atascocita landfill each month but we are doing it for you , your children and your grandchildren. If we don’t do it, who will?

Many of our resources are diminishing and once they are gone, they are gone! We hope that you will join us. They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. We need to look at that pile of trash in front of our houses each week and find a way to turn it back into something other than Atascocita Mountain.

Curbside recycling comes to Sand Creek, Mills Branch, and Oakhurst villages
The City of Houston has announced that all but 100,000 homes in Houston with City trash now have curbside recycling. Most Kingwood residents do not have the City service.
