Volunteers Needed
Calling all ExxonMobil connected residents for a Kleenwood team:
Keep Kingwood Green is an all volunteer organization. That said, we do have expenses and over the years have paid our bills by recycling cell phones and getting an occasional grant. On Saturday, April 2nd, the 13th annual Travis McCormick Kleenwood will be held. The spirit of this once a year event is to pick up liter and recyclables in our neighborhoods, parks and roadways and really Kleen the place up!
We encourage all residents to spend time that day between 9 and 11 picking up their neighborhood. And, if you are an ExxonMobil affiliated employee, spouse of, minor child of, retiree, or spouse of, you can help us pay our bills by donating your hour or two to Keep Kingwood Green. If our XOM team collectively spends 20 hours on Kleenwood we can get a $500 grant from the company.
Every hour is important! If you can help, please send an e-mail to Hal@keepkingwoodgreen.org and he will send details to you. For two hours or more, you can even “earn” a Keep Kingwood Green T-shirt and enjoy a free lunch at Ecofair. (see below).

Electronic Recycling returned to Kingwood
Monthly Electronic Recycling is back at the Kingwood Metro Park & Ride lot
Come this Saturday, April 2nd from 9 am to 3 pm and bring all your old electronics.
After the 8 month suspension ended on March 5th, residents came out in droves to recycle electronics that had been stashed away for months. Unfortunately the lines at some points were pretty long and the Boy Scout annual mulch sale on the other end of the parking lot compounded traffic flow problems. Nevertheless, nearly 17 tons of electronics were recycled that day! Great Job! We don’t anticipate those kinds of issues on April 2nd so if you didn’t get your items recycled in March, this is your next chance.
If you have questions about what Compucycle will take give them a call at (713) 869-6700 or go to their website here.
